Privacy Policy

The short version

The app makes no network connections. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no unique identifier for you or your Mac. Nothing it reads about your audio devices ever leaves your computer.

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and loads nothing from a third party.

If you buy a licence, our payment provider processes the purchase and we receive your email address and order details so we can send you the licence and support you.

The app

No network activity. Tunestack contains no networking code. It does not phone home, check for updates by itself, or transmit anything. The only thing it can open is a macOS System Settings pane on your own machine, and only when you click a button that says so.

Your settings stay on your Mac. Your device priority lists, profiles and preferences are written to a single file at ~/Library/Application Support/com.surajkumar.tunestack/settings.json. That file is never transmitted anywhere. Deleting the app and that folder removes everything Tunestack has ever stored.

Device names. To rank and switch your audio devices, the app reads their names and identifiers from macOS — for example “AirPods Pro”. This is ordinary, unprivileged information that macOS gives any app, it requires no permission, and it stays on your Mac.

Support reports. The app can write a support report containing your device list, your settings and the reason for its last switching decision. It is only created when you ask for it, saved wherever you choose, and only ever sent to us if you decide to email it. It is not generated or uploaded automatically.

Per-app audio. If you use the per-app audio features, macOS will ask your permission, because they involve system audio. Audio is processed in memory only, in order to apply your volume setting, and is passed straight back to your speakers. It is never recorded, written to disk, or transmitted. Tunestack has no ability to save audio to a file.

Launch at login. This uses SMAppService, a standard macOS facility. It registers a preference with macOS on your own machine and involves no data leaving it.

This website

The site is static. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and includes no analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, session recording or embedded third-party content. Its fonts are served from the same domain as the page, so visiting it does not make a request to anyone else.

The interactive simulator on the home page runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you do with it is recorded or sent anywhere.

Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and a timestamp — for a short period, to keep the site running and to defend against abuse. We do not use those logs to build any profile of you.

If you buy a licence

Payments are handled by Paddle, acting as the merchant of record. They collect what is needed to sell you software and pay the correct tax: your name, email address, billing country, payment details and any tax identifier. Their handling of that data is governed by their privacy policy.

We never see your full card details. They are handled by the payment provider and their processors, and are not transmitted to us.

From that purchase we receive your email address and order details. We use them to deliver your licence, answer support requests, and send you essential notices about the product you bought — a security problem, for instance. We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it, and we do not sell, rent or share your details with anyone for their own purposes.

We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is typically several years, and no longer than that.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, the EU or another region with equivalent law, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive it in a portable form, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent where we relied on it.

Because the app collects nothing, in practice this only ever concerns your purchase record and any support emails. Write to support@tunestack.in and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for it or make it difficult.

Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (delivering the licence you paid for and supporting it), our legitimate interests (answering your questions, keeping the site secure), and legal obligation (keeping tax records).

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather you told us first.

Children

Tunestack is a utility for people who own a Mac. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change materially affects what we do with your data, we will say so plainly rather than quietly editing the text.
